Note that I have absolutely zero experience with SQL CLI or with attempting
to connect to a non-native database.

Following another thread earlier this week led me to the v7r1 SQL CLI
reference on KnowledgeCenter. In it, I noticed the following claim:
"DB2 for i CLI applications can connect to multiple databases
simultaneously."
