In .Net, PHP, Ruby, etc. it's almost always a good idea to call
business logic as stored procedures where the logic is tied to a
specific database whether IBMi, SQL Server or Oracle.

There is a minimum of two kinds of business logic -- file- or
table-oriented business logic and process-oriented business logic. We
made the same rule here: that file/table-oriented business logic should
remain on the same platform where the data is stored and other platforms
must call stored procedures to access that data so that the associated
business logic can be applied and kept in only one place.

Sincerely,

Dave Clark
