Additional consideration would be needed for certain processes that will only work with physical files. For example, CPYF's >> TOFILE parameter will not accept a logical file.
Actually Dan you can CPYF to a logical file with a Create(*YES). The resulting object is a keyed physical file. And trust me it can screw up your mind when debugging why your input file (the new keyed physical) is not changing when the original based on physical file is being updated. I had this happen to me when a new programmer copied the file for testing and asked me to help them determine why their data records were not changing. However I must admit that I have used this technique and put the new "logical" into QTEMP.
