Yes, indexed files work correctly for system/36 flat files. They are
externally defined at the key - data level. They are not externally defined
at the field level therefor, they are broken out on the I spec.

The reference to the Address Out interface is accessing a table that is
generated by the #GSORT OCL program. The #GSORT IBM utility can be used to
sort and merge data at the procedure level before the

Program is invoked. The resulting address table can be associated to the
data file via the F spec. Of course the #GSORT utility can also generate
another flat file if it is configured for that purpose. The

System/36 flat file data can be defined at the field level using IDDU. That
then enables the data to be accessed at the field level using Query 400.
