Option 1: Convert it to RPG IV

I mean seriously - why not? Unless it is a very unusual program it will convert without issue. %ScanRpl will do the job in a single operation.

Option 2: Code a simple routine in RPG IV and call it.

Option 3: Move the string to a DS which has the three components that you want defined then concatenate the three bits into a new field.

Hello all,

Quick and probably easy question for the group.....what's the easiest way
to remove dashes from a phone number in RPGIII? Using the XLATE op code
doesn't allow a use like this:

'-':'' XLATE NUM1 NUM2

In other words, translating a dash to nothing. I know there's a bunch of
ways to do this in RPGIV and later but alas, it's an RPGIII program I'm
messing with. Any help is as always appreciated. Thanks!
