The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.

We've had line-blurring for years. CGIDEV2 project? Could legitimately
be the RPG list or the Web list.
But we've made it this long without the world crumbling. I do think
the new open source list is a welcome addition. I've often felt there
wasn't a good place to discuss Python, and some of my attempts to do
so on other lists have admittedly been a bit contrived.
but my guess is that posts will be
more along the lines of using Python, Node, Ruby, PHP and others on IBM
i. Yes, I get that WEB400 covers many of the same issues so again,
there may be overlap.
One of the things that I've been trying to get across about Python
(and this would apply to other so-called "scripting languages" such as
the others you mentioned) is that it is a full-fledged, fully
general-purpose language. Not just for CL-like scripting. More
general-purpose than RPG. I hardly use Python for Web stuff (though
Python is a strong language for Web development). In my job, I
actually use Python mainly as an *RPG* replacement.
So yeah, a list specifically for open source on the i is a great
addition to the midrange.com family. Thanks David!
