That would indeed be nice, but I don't know of any that specifically
caters to RPG programmers.

Have you programmed in any other languages?

Found this reference from a 2013 J.Y. post when i was investigating the
other night (and some others too) -
http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l/201310/msg00446.html
So the path to using Python on the i is (1) learn Python on Windows,
Linux, or Mac, (2) install iSeriesPython on your i, (3) profit!

I'm vaguely flattered to be mentioned, and of course more importantly,
happy that you seem to have taken an interest in Python.

But the landscape has changed since I wrote that, and so the path is a
little more nuanced now. Today you have more choices, which is both a
good thing and a bad thing. It's good because you're not as locked in
as before. It's bad because now you have additional decisions to make.

The main decision comes down to: Are you looking to eventually install
IBM's Python for PASE or the third-party iSeriesPython? If you can
answer that, then I can help you choose a path accordingly.

Note that it's not a binary choice: You can very well install both,
and they won't interfere with each other. But if you're just starting
out with Python, I think it makes sense to have an idea which will be
your "main" one, or at least your first one.

Some people will find that it's a no-brainer to install one or the
other. For example, if your shop only uses stuff with IBM's name on
it, then obviously you will be going with IBM's Python.

If you're not so constrained, and you need help making that first
decision, let me know. I'll need to ask a few more questions, but I
can help.
