It may be worth mentioning that Git is technically not the kind of
comparison utility that OP asks for, per se. It has commands for
viewing source diffs, but it delegates that work to other programs. I
am not sure what Git's default diff viewer is; it may well be Unix's
diff, in which case you're not getting a whole lot of advantage over
CMPPFM. I know Git lets you choose which viewer you want to use, so
you could use something more sophisticated, like kdiff3.
In fact, there are quite a few nice diff tools for Windows or that are
cross-platform. If you're specifically looking for such a tool,
there's no need to involve Git. (So you could just use kdiff3 on its
own, for example.) Git is something to look into if you really want
the version control it offers. (Which could be a good idea, but is
beyond the scope of the question asked.)
