Not quite..

While the default on CRTSRCPF is indeed 92, the "standard" for ILE RPG
source files since inception has indeed been 112. The ILE RPG Programmers
guide says:
"To create a source physical, use the
Create Source Physical file (CRTSRCPF) command. The recommended record
length of the file is 112 characters. This record length takes into account
the new
ILE RPG structure as shown in Figure 26 on page 52."

12 chars for Seq#/Date
80 chars code
20 chars for comments

Without the fully free PTFs mentioned, you could code free-format specs in
pos 8-80 of the 80 character code segment.

With the PTFs, you have
12 chars for Seq#/Date
xxx chars code

where xxx is a number from 1 to 32754. Since RCDLEN() on CRTSRCPF must be
at least 13 and a max of 32766.

Sorry, not true. On the CRTSRCPF you can specify a length. Default of 92
means source line is 80. If you define as 132, you get a source line length
of 120, If you define at 112, you would get a 100.

The RPG compiler just say anything before 6 is a comment and anything past
80 is a comment. New PTF's mean we can start at position 1 and go to length
of source record with code. To start a comment, //.

Consist with any other programming language.
