"Uh, the standard source line length for ILE RPG has been 100 characters
(plus SRCSEQ and SRCDAT fields) from inception.

Whether one can put actual code before 6 or after 80, I've never had any
reason to look into."

Sorry, not true. On the CRTSRCPF you can specify a length. Default of 92
means source line is 80. If you define as 132, you get a source line length
of 120, If you define at 112, you would get a 100.

The RPG compiler just say anything before 6 is a comment and anything past
80 is a comment. New PTF's mean we can start at position 1 and go to length
of source record with code. To start a comment, //.

Consist with any other programming language.
