Per the help on Compiler Directives:
" Directives can begin in column 7 or later."

Of course, there is also this: " Note: The compiler directive statements /FREE and /END-FREE are no longer used. If you specify them, they will be ignored."

Even though SEU is stabilized, it is ok with /free in any column 7 or greater. I just checked and it doesn't cause Return To Editing to be set to Y. Unless the OS level matters. V7R2 here.

A semi-colon is not specified at the end of a free-format specification.
