Not a bad thing as such, rather, it can be a surprise to users of IBM i applications. So it is something to add to your documentation if you make this change. I did use *LANGIDSHR in a product I maintained, so that items that differed only in case showed up together in the listings. When these items contained only letters, it was no different. When punctuation and numerals were involved, we got questions - easily answered but asked, nonetheless.

Whew!! That was a long way to say "No problem"!!

Also check the results of your sorting - I think that if you use
*LANGIDSHR, that the order is more like ASCII. In particular, I've seen
an instance that numbers are before letters in the sort, while with
EBCDIC they are after letters.

But check this - it has been awhile.
