Never assume the order you'll get with SQL. You must always specify it, if
its important to you. SQL can pick different indexes and uses behind the
scene "magic" that can alter the order of the records you get, if you don't
tell it what you want.

If you really want relative record number sorting, you can use select *
from file ORDER BY RRN(file)

We moved to a new ISeries over the weekend. Old box running V5R4 - new box
running V7R1. When I do a strsql & then run the sql statement below on the
NEW BOX - I get the LAST 7 records in the file. If I run the same
statement on the OLD BOX - I get the first 7 records.

What is causing the difference?

SELECT CDTECA FROM CALNDRL0 WHERE CDTECA >= 1150430 AND CALNCA =
'MAPICS' FETCH FIRST 7 ROWS ONLY
