The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
... what ever you do, each variant has it's drawbacks:
- CONST is only hopefully CONST and the caller could be corrupted by passing
the reference to another external function
- VALUE is not working as expected for external stored procedures
- CONST might be nanoseconds faster than VALUE
- VALUE is not possible for dynamic CALL
as a conclusion of this I take VALUE, wherever possible (choosing between
safety and nanoseconds, I would pay the nanoseconds and I've hadn't ever
problems with performance), hoping that corruption of temporary buffers
doesn't corrupt the calling programms.
