CSV is just a delimited string of data fields – it is what is known in old
days as a flat file.

As Vernon states it is the best to get an example of what they want and
work from there.

I'm at 7.1, so this is "as of" 7.1.

I've used the API's for directly writing column headings for the CSV, but
in case this helps...

If you're using the CPYTOIMPF command to copy a database file to the CSV
file in IFS, at some point, IBM added two new (undocumented far as I can
tell) parameters to the CPYTOIMPF command. You have to use F9 to see them.

ORDERBY() - A list in SQL-OrderBy-clause format of the sort fields...
COLHDG() - If you want column headings, this parameter gives you a choice
of *NONE, *SQL, or *SYS.

The *SYS option uses the DDS short-names as column headings.
I don't remember whether the *SQL option uses the SQL-long-name, or the
ALIAS name.

I’ve been working through Jon and Susans example to write a CSV file on
the
IFS.
I have it working, but I’m not sure how/if I can write a line with
headings?

Thanks
