It should be *XML_CHARS, then *XML_PREDEF_REF, then *XML_CHARS again...

Any time data is broken up by something else (in this case a reference, but other thngs are possible such as having nested tags in the middle of the data, other refs in the data, etc.. there may be more reasons) it will split the data into multiple calls

So the best way to handle is to collect all data between the start tag & end tag into a string, and you'll know you've received it all when the end tag is found.
