That's just it: if it were doing that with data being passed to and from a C routine, it would make perfect sense.

But it isn't. Look at your own QSYSDIR/QIWSSAMPLE service program: nothing but an RPG module, and no non-system service programs bound to it.

It's coded as if it were designed to be called *from* C.
