I would like to see the examples. Examples usually nail the concept.
You can send to our emails, or post the code area on midrange?

Hi Alan,

We use Scotts code (Modified) every day to read/update/create excels.
The thing with reading cells is that it is the actual contents of the cell.
When you use Excel it interprets the cells and displays the results.
So, if the cells contain the results of a macro that works ok, as long as the cell itself does not contain the formula.

I have several code examples I could send you if you like.

Jerry

I've been tasked with a project that starts with reading data from an Excel file. The file is very complex, includes a Pivot table, and quite a number of multiple sheets. The accountant creates it with a lot of macros. I've not programmed with Excel files yet, or even Java, except to create comma-delimited files.

Do the POI-HSSF classes in our Java handle things like the Pivot table, or will I need to implement them separately? I've downloaded Scott Klement's RPG source and I'm reading up on his excellent articles on the subject, but it will take a bit to get that far.
