I think "modernize" was a good pick, for the reasons noted.

It's meant for us, to help us adapt our applications for incorporating the use of the best tools available today for maintenance, both to make them "look good" to the user, inspire the freshly minted RPG and "IBM I" developers, and to shorten the turn-around time for projects and code maintenance.

The "look good" issue involves the user interface, but remember that the modern GUI users (almost everybody out there) are accustomed to much more than just having pretty boxes. They're used to the behavior associated with event-sensitive functions, multiple threads, linking, dynamic data, and more. PLUS the other things described in the book.

It is US who have been back there and by the way, "modernization" is something every kind of shop should be doing on a regular basis, at least reviewing for adaptation. It's a GOOD thing, in my humble opinion.

How about some of these words rather than Modernize .....

Repurpose (or Reposition) IBM i Applications for the Future - from the Database up to the User Interface and Everything In Between

Future-proofing IBM i Applications from the Database up to the User Interface and Everything In Between
