Sorry you were so confused. My example did add the dimension of helping those steeped in other languages to understand.

Your suggestion works too assuming you are returning *On ('1') or *Off ('0').

Why the true/false.
It's more like Java, but RPG isn't.
99% of RPG pgms use *on/*off.

It's not consistent, it adds nothing, and therefore it's just confusing.
