What is the date format? If it's *MDY, then this is an invalid date.
I think this might be it - I ran into some of this recently, as well.

This confuses me because a dump shows the control record date field as:
C1DDATFR DATE(10) '0001-01-01'
DDS has C1DDATFR defined as "Data type L"
We're seriously past that born-on date, but I thought "*LOVAL" would be ok ?
