I don't know if you're losing sight of the fact that I'm not a
proponent of braces in RPG. I'm cool with RPG as it is, and I'm cool
with IBM changing RPG however they see fit. The *only* point I'm
making is that there is no technical reason why *EBCDIC* would be a
bigger stumbling block to adding braces than the semantics of the
braces.

In other words, of the myriad reasons not to add braces to RPG,
character encoding issues are not anywhere near the top of the list.
