Yes, that is right and in fact it was an undocument feature in my terms.
Now it is called a defect.

apparently flags it as illegal (don't know about SEU, but I would
expect the same behaviour), the priority could be extremely low :-)

SEU "loves" the asterix as well as I do. It is only RDi which is not happy
with it.

If so, and it is an undocumented feature (I have never seen anything
in the documentation about it), I think it it is reasonable to
expect that the compiler be changed. But given the fact that RDI
apparently flags it as illegal (don't know about SEU, but I would
expect the same behaviour), the priority could be extremely low :-)
