If I look at an EBCDIC Character Set chart I see non-keyboard
characters. Is there a way to display those characters on a 5250
green screen?
What is that unnamed CS chart; i.e. why not share what is being
reviewed, so the audience knows\sees the same thing? What keyboard is
being used, given the implication the characters are "non-keyboard
characters"? What are the names, e.g. the GCGID Name, of "those
characters"?
I opened the 5250 Edit --> Preferences --> keyboard
item and it shows some of the characters, and allows them to be
assigned to a key stroke, but, at least for me, it does not appear
on the screen when typed. However something does happen because when
I close the member, it warns me that there is an invalid character.
Any tie-in for this topic, specifically to RPG, would seem very
tenuous.? A more appropriate audience might be found on a less narrowly
focused forum.
The answer depends on knowing much more than what was offered, both
for requirements and very specific details of the interfaces and the
/characters/ that are being entered; e.g. keyboard, language settings,
job ccsid, source member ccsid, et al, can have some impact. The glyphs
available for viewing a particular character for some code point may be
limited for a variety of reasons, all the way up to the UI, and possibly
as low as the [effective] hardware.
