my SQLRPGLE program does the following:
dynstm = 'update file set dt = current date'
exec sql execute immediate :dynstm;
if the sqlcod is nether 0 or 100, an example of the joblog contains
the following:
Record 615374 in use by job 452249/XEDK/XXXB1.
Row or object FILE inTESTFIL type *FILE in use.
I'd like to retrieve the message(s) from the joblog and display it
somewhere, but not sure how to do this.
You could force you job's log to be printed and then
scan that printer file for the message and extract the
text.
here is an example to print the job log from RPGLE:
Start sample xxxxxxxx
C Eval wkCmd = 'DSPJOBLOG JOB(*) OUTPUT(*PRINT)'
C CALLP(E) QCMDEXC (wkCmd : %Len(wkCmd))
End sample xxxxxx
the next step could be to use CPYSPLF to copy the printer file to
a temp physical file then loop through the file looking for the
message id associated with your file in use message, etc
