I'm inclined to do what Charles recommends. The "new procedure" wizard doesn't support that, however, and I use that a lot.

This is similar to my practice of making, in CL, a DO-ENDDO block for any IF constructs. Again, things MIGHT change in the future, and it's a tiny bit of effort to do it.

Languages such as Pascal require a block, IIRC. If not Pascal, other languages do.

In the v5r4 PDF manual (The oldest I have ;))

It's usually used only for long names
D charlesNextRecord...
D PR 1N ExtProc(*JAVA:
D 'java.sql.ResultSet':
D 'next')
But I'll often use it on short ones, since I tend to rename things, plus I
think it's a little cleaner if all the specs match.

I was about to ask why nextRec takes a parameter when called, but
doesn't declare one in the D-Spec, but I found the answer to that, on
page 191 of the V6 ILE RPG Programmer's Guide.

But I still don't get the business with the name on one line, followed
by 3 periods, and then the rest of the declaration on the next line.
Where is that in the manual?
