A few thoughts:
-is there a k missing on the F-spec?
-are you finding a deleted record?
-has a totally blank record somehow crept into the file?
-is there more than one record format in the PF?
-are you using I-specs and derailing yourself there?

Some of these don't make sense for your situation, but then, on the face of it the situation doesn't make sense, either.

Given a CHAIN on a keyed, externally described PF.

The format level is correct, and no level check is thrown.

There is nothing visibly wrong with any of the records in the file.

And yet a CHAIN on it throws an RNQ1011 ("Undefined record type . . .").

Can anybody shed any light on this?
