I agreed for the most part with both with Robert Martin's original post about "professional programmers" as well as Mark Rendle's response about "professional employers". I got a kick out of hearing the point of view of a programmer transitioning from VB 6, to VB .Net, to VB .aspx web interfaces. They evidently have a legacy problem too.
Mark made reference to a group of 3-4 developers supporting a user base tens of thousands, but how often is that the case? I see 3-4 developers supporting a user base of 200-300. It stands to reason that the former should be able to offer more to the developers just because of economies of scale.
