If the trigger-handling program was Alan's "trigger mediator", the trigger mediator is the one that gets resolved to the library when adding the PF trigger.

Hence, If the logging code is in a separate program which gets called by the trigger mediator, then Albert's suggestion would be helpful...

that simply returns with LR off. Put it in a special library that you put
at the top of the library list when you need it.

That won't work. Triggers added with *LIBL get the library resolved at the time the trigger is added -- not when the file is opened.

This is intentional so that rogue users can't slip a placebo trigger into their library list to circumvent intended actions. It has been discussed in these forums in the past.
