About the suggestions to use %DEC or %INT, I recommend using %DECH or
%INTH instead.
If the inexact floating point value happens to be a tiny bit less than
the true value, %DEC and %INT would truncate the result.
For example, say x is 2, and the floating point value for 10**2 was
99.9999999999999, then %INT(10**x) would return 99, not 100.
%INTH(10**x) would return 100 as expected.
I don't know whether there are any cases for 10**x where the floating
point result is less than the true value, but even if there aren't, I
think it's a good idea to code conservatively anyway.
