Assuming that you're upgrading to 7.1 from 6.1, then the RUNSQL command
is available to you with the more recent 6.1 DB2 group PTF.

Thanks to everyone who replied to help me out.

If I'm going to access in RPG, I must set the date myself.

If I want DB2 to set the date, it cannot be defined in the program, so
use a logical file where the date is not defined.

Or in this particular instance, I'm just going to move today's date to
the field. (Hmmm, can I EVAL the date? Not if I use UDATE. I haven't
tried *DATE) This part I can handle.

Now I know a little more how this stuff works. It seems like it's all or
nothing.

We are planning to upgrade to V7 this summer. I am looking forward to
playing around with SQL within CL to replace OPNQRYF. That will help me
get my feet wet in the SQL waters.
