I believe that is what happens now - Nathan, you listed those calls to the QDB* programs that are put into the code - among other things, there's code to put the statement out there, and THOSE programs ARE written by the SQL team, right?

I'm with you there. I don't like the pre-compiler either. Procedure calls would be better than the dynamic calls made to the aforementioned programs. You could make your own calls to the CLI procedures; but you've probably already considered that.
