I seem to recall that some code generators DID allow custom code, if inserted into source at SPECIFIC points. There was usually some sort of comment that indicated where user code was allowed to live. On regeneration, the user code was copied into the newly re-generated source automagically. AFAIK, editing generated code is (?almost?) always a bad idea, not just in EGL, for two reasons.
1. The code the generator outputs in NOT user-friendly.
2. Manually changed code is overwritten when you generate again.
