I never mentioned DFU. I did suggest that one can do DB maintenance with a "utility" in a short amount of time. I even named a Foxpro and Excel. Foxpro in particular is quite powerful. Then I asked, but would you want to? So I was actually suggesting that "utilities" may be inadequate for DB maintenance.

When people allude to the idea of deploying new applications in very short amounts of time, I'm suggesting that THEY are the ones using "utilities" for DB maintenance, as opposed to the traditional methods of using screen designers paired with programming to develop maintenance programs.

I was actually opening the door so that you could explain your utility, and so that Jim could indicate if it would be adequate for his needs. Otherwise, let's accept the idea that traditional development methodologies may be called for, and the extra time and effort required by them may be justified.
