I can definitely confirm this. I have XMLSERVICE running on a box that is not running Zend Server. In a session I do about XMLSERVICE, I call an RPG subprocedure using nothing but a simple html form.

I think this will be the perfect fit for your requirement as it only requires that the caller communicate via XML. What language can't do that in this day and age?

If that's what it does, then it probably fits my needs.

I was more after has anyone used it in a real production scenario besides Zend :-)

Wanted to make sure Zend wasn't a requirement and I could use it without the Zend server.

It appears that I can. Can you confirm that it will work with straight HTTP Server on i ?

My plan is to have a consumable service that can be called from .Net, PHP, etc without using Java or PHP.

XMLSERVICE exposes your RPG program as a webservice or stored procedure using a generic XML interface. So are you talking about consuming it from RPG? Otherwise, I don't see the difference. PHP uses XMLSERVICE to call RPG (as any other language could), so what other use of it were you thinking?

I guess I was thinking RPG development, not PHP :-)

Considering the new IBM i toolkit from Zend uses it, I would say "yes".
