There's no option in the setup for installing Client Access to install only the data providers - there is always some core stuff that gets installed. That is the issue some have, and maybe the OP does, that they don't want the bloat.

At least that is my memory of things. I think there was an old .Net beta that you could get independently, but no guarantees on the facts related thereto.

I don't think the data access components require anything... They can be installed on their own.

You can use the IBM Client Access .Net Data provider, OLEDB or ODBC, but they DO require Client Access.
