Nathan,

I have (or rather had) a hotel solution, but it was written for System/32
;-)

I have been the main architect to many solutions over the years, booking-
and ticketing, fixed assets (that became one of the first third party
products
on IBM's pricelist), financial standard system, international shipping
solution
for both bulk and line traffic, payroll systems etc. etc.

It is not a problem to write an application, the problem is that any
application
needs a organisation with marketing, support etc. behind it to be
succesfull.

And since I have been CEO for several companies and IBM Partners, both
owned by myself and others and hate to be "the boss" but at the same time
hates to have "a boss", i'm caught somewhere in between. Or in other words,
"been there, done that and bought the t-shirt" in a traditional organisation
setup.

This dosn't mean that I sit in my sofa on my hands and has given up - the
group we are in is maybe not the right forum, but it is a start and others
has actually done what i'm trying to do - just not on the IBM I.

Open Source project can be very succesfull, not only in a technical point
of view, but also commercial - with much more loose coupling of resources
that in traditional businesses, you just have to find the right people with
the
right spirit.

Unfortunately these are apparently not to be found within the IBM I range,
people that mostly limit their world to sit in groups of other IBM I people
with a crying face because all feel that they are in the middle of loosing
the battle - while the world goes on - in most EXT JS and javascript groups
MS .NET and PHP programmers sits side by side and who cares if the
server is based on MS or Linux, .NET or PHP - they are "front-end"
programmers that will be happy to work with any "back-end" programmer
that can deliever the data they need to their "front-end".

And Nathan, next week I will have initial talks with one of the guys on an
university in Sweden - if we can forme some sort of collaboration you will
see new possibilities on IBM I that may interest you:

But it dosn't end with just another plugin, Mats is running two groups
very close to me (in two countries but still in a range of 50 miles) with
about
150 front-end programmers and he is a speaker on Sencha conferences in
your backyard.

It may be I'm wrong in what i'm trying to do, but trying and failing, is
better
than doing nothing!

Regards
henrik
