If the OP was interested only in positive Zoned BCD [Binary Coded Decimal], then that UDF might suffice. And for Packed BCD the HEX(pFIELD) could be applied, but the sign digit remains an issue. The OP however suggested [in the SNIPped reply] that the data in the string "[c]ould be packed or zoned".
