I would like to thank everyone for all the information. I have decided to create the data transfer inside the Excel program. This seams the easiest and fasted way to do it at this time. Will continue to try and automate it more as time allows.
Thanks again to all,

William,
You can also use a VB script kicked off in excel by a button to go to the Iseries and extract data and return it to the spreadsheet. Requires some cl and rpg programming as well as VB scripts.
