The RRN will signify which record# will be written to the subfile. Having set RRN=0, increment it by one everytime before your program makes an write attempt

Hope this helps.

Subject: Clearing a subfile

I am updating a set of records using SQL and when I am done, I want to
reload the subfile records so the user can see what records have not yet
been processed. The code I saw an example of did it like so:

Set the relative record number for the subfile to zero;
set ON the indicator for SFLCLR (which also sets OFF SFLDSPCTL)
issue a write to the Subfile control record format
set OFF the indicator for SFLCLR (which sets ON the indicator for SFLDSPCTL)
load the subfile with records

When I do that I get the following:

Incorrect record number in subfile SFLRCDNBR or SFLSIZ field.

It complains about the record number being zero so I set it to 1 and
then tried again. This time it issues a duplicate key error.

So, how do I clear the subfile of all records so I can reload it?

Thanks,
