Excuse me? A ProVip subscription costs, IIRC, $150 per year. I've never asked my company to pay for it. I pay for it myself (it is tax deductible in my case), and worth every penny. Neither have most of the companies for which I have worked paid for LUG meetings, COMMON membership or conferences (they usually do let me have the time off with pay without having to take a vacation). Even when I was unemployed and looking, I looked at all of these as investments in my future.
