The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
you are right, I striped down your code and test it myself and it doesn't
work. I use the strerror() to display the error and the error says "The
value specified for the argument is not correct.". I'm not sure why. I've
never use this api before. Sorry, someone else might be able to help. Here
is the stripped down version:
D TEST Pr Extpgm('TEST')
D File_Path 45a
*
D TEST Pi
D File_Path 45a
********************************************************************
*
* API to test for IFS file existance
*
D access Pr 10i 0 extProc('access')
D ptrIFSFile * value Options(*String)
D AccessMode 10i 0 Const
/free
if access(%trim(file_Path) :0) = 0;
dsply 'Found it';
else;
dsply 'not found';
endif;
*inlr = *on;
/end-free
When I call this program, the param is passed with enough spaces (so,
garbage at the end is not the problem)
Here is how I call this test program : CALL PGM(PALHC/TEST)
PARM('/home/palhc/index.html ')

Lim,
Thank you very much for your suggestion. I tried your suggestion but
the
result is the same, the program believes the file does not exist when it
does.
Jim
