I'd be interested to know what was eventually chosen as a more meaningful
name than xC0.

Either x'C0' has 'meaning' in the context of the application, so the
constant could be called e.g. HAS_SUB_ACCOUNTS (or whatever), or it's simply
a single byte value. If the latter, is anything gained by giving it a
constant value instead of simply using x'C0'? I *guess* you could call it
HEX_C0, but that isn't much better than xC0 (IMHO, of course!).
