I wrote an article titled "RPG Consumes the REST" tht was published in the September 2009 issue of System iNEWS magazine. Here's a link to it (you'll need a ProVIP subscription)

The article gives a brief description of the REST architecture, which is an architecture, not a protocol. The protocol used for REST web services is HTTP.

Regarding your 500 error -- you simply haven't given me enough information to try to help you. Either send me a debug file generated from HTTPAPI, or post a simple program that I'm able to run to reproduce your error.

The "official" support mailing list for HTTPAPI is the FTPAPI mailing list (which is for both FTPAPI and HTTPAPI) on my web site. I don't mind discussing it here, but you'll connect with more existing HTTPAPI users over there:
