Remembering back about 20 years, you can use O specs. As I recall, you had
to use an overlay and put it on the O spec. Had to be AFPDS printer also.
That's as good as it gets. My memory I mean.

I don't think you want to use AFPDSLINE - there was a nice set of sample
AFP stuff a while ago - I may have a SAVF of it, I bet someone on the
list does. The logo was in, I think, a PAGSEG - page segment - and those
are movable on the page.

I don't think you can use O-specs - have to have an externally-defined
printer file - I've not used O-specs in maybe 15 years, love PRTFs.

BTW, if you think you want to use RLU for creating PRTFs, don't - it
can't do it. CODE Designer can, as well as the new stuff in RDp.

You might be able to use O-specs with an OVERLAY object, but I don't
know that for sure. You could use OVRPRTF to get and overlay applied to
your spooled file.

And now I'm guessing this stuff!

For that library, look for a library called QSAMPLER - maybe google it,
or look in the archives - I think it was mentioned not that long ago.

Images are done using various AFP objects like overlays and page
segments. That's one way. I believe that Host Print Transform will take
care of these things pretty well, with some limitations.

Hmm. But can I continue printing with the same O-specs into an AFP print
file?

I've done a bit of research on my own, and it appears that the product
the customer is using ("Gumbo Spoolmail") can handle any spool file the
system can dish out.

I saw a data stream called AFPDSLINE. Is that something I should look
into?

Ironically, even though this RPG program generates a report, it doesn't
use The Cycle, because it's only accessing a handful of records.
