You can use a loop,

i = 1;
dow %subst(invoiceNbr: i: 1) = *zero;
%subst(invoiceNbr: i: 1) = *blank;
enddo;

This will keep the lenght of the field, and work even if there are non
numeric characters.
You must check for all zeros before the loop, or check i doesn't go past
the end of the field.

Hi all,

This should be quick. I have a character field

d invoiceNbr s 9a

which may hold '001234567'. The user wants to see the invoice number with
leading zeroes suppressed so '1234567'.

My first thought is
/free
dspInvoiceNbr = %Char(%Dec(invoiceNbr: 9: 0));
/end-free

Is there a better method or is this about as good as any other method?

Thanks,

Rob
