BLOCK file keyword with Logical Files -- RPG400-L

How does the BLOCK file keyword work with logical files? Is it physically reading in a block of records by RRN and possibly hurting performance if the physical file sequence doesnât match the logical index? Or does it read in a block of records from the index which will always improve performance?
