The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.

Therein lies the rub. Maybe I want to propagate *- through the
length of a
string, by setting the first 2 bytes to '*-' and then doing an
operation
like %subst(mystring: 3) = mystring. I won't get it that way, you're
saying, and I think that's a loss of function.
You might WANT to do it that way but you don't NEED to do it that way--
at least not in RPG.
D myString S 256
C MOVE *ALL'*-' myString
C EVAL myString = *ALL'*-'
/FREE
myString = *ALL'*-';
same result--more obvious code. COBOL has support for ALL literal too
but I'm afraid certain less feature rich languages do not. Oh well.
