Okay, I dug up a handout I’d gotten at the Nashville MUG meeting (thanks,
Jerry) a few years ago.
I put numbers into an array. When I read the new record I want to bump
everything up (2 to 1, 3 to 2, etc). However, this would be a REALLY long
running program given the amount of data I have to run through the program.
Instead I’m trying to move the array into data structure of the same size
that is redefined (ZHOLD - see example below). Next, I clear the original
array. Then I move everything except that first element back to the
original array. Take a look at this:
D ARJ S 4 0 DIM(5)
D ZHOLD 20 0
D ZHOLD1 4 0
D ZHOLD2 16 0
MOVEA ARJ ZHOLD
Z-ADD 0 ARJ
MOVEA ZHOLD2 ARJ
Only problem is I keep getting a compile error saying:
“Factor 2 and Result Field are not the same data type and length; the
specification is ignored.”
What am I doing wrong? TIA.
