if it is just a swipe reader on a keyboard, then you rpg app doesn't know/doesn't care - it's just 5250 or html (if rpg-cgi).
I've used swipe readers on pc keyboards for decades - the only problem is getting them all configured the same so things like
auto record advance can happen, or getting extra cr/lf in the data stream.
If you are talking to a different device, an ascii device, then a rpg pgm can be used "talk" to it (more avail if this is your prob).
Your magnetic card may have multiple tracks on it & your swipe device will have to be set up for that.
